Together Behind Bars

A young prisoner recently gave his life to Jesus through a prison outreach made possible by churches and ministries serving together in unity. His story is a powerful reminder that when believers partner together, the gospel can reach even the most difficult places.

Recently, during a prison outreach supported by several churches and ministries in Spain, one young prisoner gave his life to Jesus after hearing the gospel shared by the visiting team. Although deeply moved, he initially hesitated, believing he needed his parents’ approval before making such a decision. But after wrestling with the choice, he finally took the step, confessed his sins, and surrendered his life to Christ.

For those involved in the ministry, it was a powerful reminder that God is still transforming lives — even behind prison walls.

The outreach is part of an ongoing ministry carried out weekly by teams of believers who visit prisons together in pairs, sharing the gospel, praying with prisoners, and encouraging them in faith. Those serving describe how naturally the pairs complement one another in conversations and ministry, often sensing the Holy Spirit guiding what is shared and how people respond.

This work is made possible through partnership between ECMI workers, local churches, and wider evangelical networks. Together, they are able to continue reaching people in difficult and often spiritually overlooked environments.

Prison ministry also brings significant challenges. Follow-up and discipleship can be difficult within the prison system, and evangelical believers are sometimes viewed with suspicion in Spain. Yet despite these obstacles, seeds of hope are being planted.

Please pray for this young man as he begins his new life in Christ within the prison environment. Pray too for the churches, ministries, and volunteers working together in unity, that God would continue opening hearts and bringing lasting transformation through this shared mission.
